Well, that’s cause it is!
Sorry I’ve not posted for a couple of days, but you probably don’t care anyway and I have been very busy with the school production- The Thwarting of Baron Bolligrew.
First day was alright, wasn’t brilliant but very funny all the same. 3/4 was thrown off sound and lighting crew as he broke a prop. Woops. The best bit of ad lib-ing, in my opinion, went a bit like this:
(Court scene where Bolligrew’s right- hand man, Squire Blackheart, does not turn up to take his place as magistrate so new magistrate, a man- at- arms is appointed.)
JL (Baron Bolligrew): … I’ll appoint another magistrate. Coporal, you’re a Magistrate! Siddown.
AW (Man at arms), does not notice he’s been given his cue and remains standing.
Long pause. As in, VERY long pause.
CJ (Oblong (hero)): So… Baron… How are you today?
One of those you-had-to-be-there things maybe, but even the cast laughed.
Second night better, but it’s a long play and hard work to remember all those lines, so a few prompts were needed but went well nonetheless. More ad lib-ing, went a little like:
Oblong tells of how he beat Squire Blackheart in combat as the Squire tried to steal some eggs from a peasant
CJ (Oblong): Yes, he left behind a… tangible piece of evidence. (realises he has forgotten said piece of evidence)… which I seem to have left at home today…
JL (Bolligrew): Oh yes?
(Stage crew pass forward Blackheart’s plume, aka the evidence)
CJ: Ah yes, here it is. It was in my back pocket all along- I was just sitting in the wrong position, you see…
After the play, I went home with Golden, had a sleepover, woke up, went shopping in Stratty with Golden, NAP and Blondie where we went to the magic museum, which was random, came home with Golden again, and then went to the final performance, which went pretty much perfectly, and GiggleBuddy was away so I got her lines (yay). Oh, and it was the day my parents came to watch so all was good in the neighbourhood… as NAP would say…
Comunque, ben fatto per tutti i sogetti coinvolti e ciao, bambini!
